Michael Knight’s The Holiday Season just published by Grove Press
As we move into the holiday season, we note the publication of The Holiday Season (Grove Press)--two novellas by Michael Knight, Associate Professor of Creative Writing. The first, “The Holiday Season,” show how Jeff Posey, the family patriarch, and his two adult sons—Ted, a corporate lawyer, and Frank, a mostly failed actor who narrates the novel—try to reconnect as a family between Thanksgiving and Christmas three years after the death of their wife and mother. The second novella, “Love at the End of the Year,” surveys a wide variety of characters and various forms of love over the course of an eventful Alabama New Year’s Eve.
The two novellas are probing and engaging additions to Michael’s growing body of work, which includes Dogfight and Other Stories (1998), a novel, Divining Rod (1999), and a second collection of short stories, Goodnight, Nobody (2003).
