Fellowships
- The Hilton A. Smith And Herman E. Spivey Graduate Fellowships
Applicants must complete the B.A. before beginning the fellowship and must plan to devote full time to graduate study. The stipend is $15,000 for two semesters and remission of fees except minor charges for activities, diploma, and thesis. Application forms may be obtained from the Financial Aids Coordinator in the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records (218 Student Services Building; The University of Tennessee; Knoxville, Tennessee 37996) and should be returned, completed, before February 15 of the year preceding the fall in which the student hopes to enter.
- Tennessee Higher Education Fellowships for Minority Students Who
Are Residents of Tennessee
Applicants must have completed the B.A. before beginning the fellowship and must plan either to devote full time to graduate study or to hold a partial teaching assistantship. The stipend varies, but is at least equivalent to a teaching assistantship. Application forms may be obtained from the Associate Dean of the Graduate School; 404 Andy Holt Tower; The University of Tennessee; Knoxville, Tennessee 37996.
Loans
Four types of loan programs are administered by the Financial Aid office:
- Perkins Loan, formerly National Direct Student Loan (Financial Aid Form or Family Finance Statement must be on file).
- Guaranteed Student Loan (Financial Aid Form and Family Finance Statement must be on file with appropriate Guaranteed Student Loan forms).
- Parent Loan Undergraduate Student/Supplemental Loan Student (requires appropriate loan papers on file).
- The University of Tennessee Loan.
