The writing programmes described in this book have all been devised with careful consideration of the kinds of language students will face in their disciplines, and/or as "participants in the social and political life of their communities" (Leki, p. 1). ... we are provided not only with food for thought, but also with a resource book of activities that we can adapt and try out for ourselves in our own work settings. This feature makes the book an excellent choice for teacher training and Applied Linguistics courses that set practical projects relating to EAP course design; here trainees will find model rationales to justify design decisions, and inspiration for their own course proposals. Indeed this is a book that I would recommend to any EAP practitioner involved in the development of a writing course.
