Hazardous Materials Environmental Compliance

1.  Manage hazardous waste on campus including
1. Waste characterization
2. Recordkeeping and reporting
3. Liaison  with regulators
4. Preparation and submittal of the annual report
5. Maintenance of the Hazardous Waste Reduction Plan, including metrics
6. Schedule waste pickup
2.  Preparation and submittal of the EPCRA report
3. Clean up hazardous waste spills
4. Provided training for departments in environmental compliance including
1. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
2. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
3. Hazardous Waste Management
4. Universal Waste
5. Laboratory Safety
5. Conduct environmental monitoring (storm water, haz waste, lead, asbestos, etc).
6. Develop online and self-study program related to environmental compliance
7. Assist department with proper management of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
8. Conduct lead-based paint inspections in accordance with EPA and HUD requirements
9. Perform environmental audits based on EPA regulations
10. Serve on the Environmental Compliance Team
11. Assist department prepare hazardous materials for off-site shipping in accordance with DOT requirements.
12. Test laboratory eye wash units annually
13. Serve as the point of contact for the chemical inventory
14. Maintain library and material safety data sheets (MSDS)
15. Test and certify chemical fume hoods
16. Maintain staff certification for DOT 172, IATA, Lead Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor, Asbestos Inspector/Manager
17. Conduct inspections related to:
1. Laboratory Safety,
2. Occupational Health
3. Environmental Compliance
18. Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to environmental compliance including, but not limited to:
1. Lead Management Plan
2. Asbestos Management Plan
3. Pesticides Management Plan
4. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan
5. Storm Water Pollution Prevention
6. Compliance Management System
