SECTION H: HEPATITIS TESTING

FOR EXPOSED EMPLOYEES, STUDENTS OR OTHER INDIVIDUALS

  1. Refer to physician for treatment.

  2. Test exposed employee for Anti HBs and HBsAg.

  3. If the individual is found to have adequate antibodies, no further treatment is required, unless ordered by physician.

  4. If the individual is found not to have adequate antibodies, continue treatment per physician's orders.

The University shall not be liable should an employee or student refuse to submit to the follow-up procedures recommended by the physician. The procedures are designed for the benefit of the individual. The employee or student who refuses to follow the procedures shall be asked to read and sign the form "Refusal of HIV, HBV Testing and Follow-up Treatment/Counseling". The signing of the form shall be witnessed by two (2) persons and placed in a permanent file. In the case of employees, a copy shall be sent to the Worker's Compensation Office.
