Requirements

Admission Requirements

All applicants must either meet the current Tennessee requirements in School Counseling (or equivalent) or obtain them prior to completion of the Ed.S. program. Other requirements include transcripts of previous grades, GRE scores, college and graduate school applications, and letters of recommendation. Preferably, applicants for the Ed.S. should have a minimum of one year of appropriate work experience.

Faculty Committee

The formulation of the student’s program, supervision of program development, recommendation for admission to degree candidacy, direction of research, and terminal examinations are executed by a committee of not fewer than three faculty members. The research and final examination requirements of the Graduate School must be met. See the Graduate Studies Catalog for these requirements and

Transfer Requirements and Time Limits

A maximum of 6 hours beyond the M.S. may be transferred from other institutions. Candidates have six calendar years form the time of entry to complete the Ed.S. degree.

A student with a M.S. degree is required to have a least one semeste r of residence; if the student lacks a M.S. degree, two consecutive semesters of residence are required.
