Working with individuals, the rehabilitation counselor determines and coordinates services for people with disabilities throughout the entire rehabilitation process, from injury or diagnosis to employment and independence. The focus is always on what the individual CAN do, not what they cannot do.

A degree in rehabilitation counseling prepares the professional for a variety of career situations, including: rehabilitation counseling, client advocacy, disability technology, employment services, independent living, case management, vocational evaluation, rehabilitation administration and many others.
- How is the RC Program at the University of Tennessee structured?
The RC Program at UT consists of four semesters of full-time enrollment. The first three semesters are completed on campus, and involve mostly academic work. In the final semester, students complete a full-time internship at an approved site.
