Program Themes and Outcomes
The interdisciplinary program features course work and learning experiences designed to develop graduates who demonstrate and exemplify
- Knowledge of major developmental periods and events in American higher education.
- Knowledge of major governing and organizational principles/ideals that undergird American higher educations and how these may differ from higher education in other cultures and countries.
- Knowledge of major contemporary policy issues challenging American higher education and participation in policy dialogue via professional presentations, journal articles, and/or op-ed pieces.
- Knowledge of research design principles and facility in conducting both quantitative and qualitative inquiry.
- Knowledge and skill in communicating clearly, correctly, logically, and forcefully in both oral and written communication.
- Habits of mind and skill in critical thinking.
- Knowledge of major theories related to leadership role/responsibility and organizational behavior, to articulate the use of theory for improving leadership performance, and to exemplify skill of theory-in-action.
- Knowledge of theory related to assessment, measurement, quality assurance and accountability systems in higher education.
