Personal Interests and Hobbies

I worked as a practicing school psychologist for three years before returning to earn my doctorate in School Psychology. I currently serve as Department Head of the Dept. of Educational Psychology. In addition, some of my time is spent in a private practice setting. Normally, I supervise seven to ten doctoral dissertations as well as help students in research and applied activities. My current research focuses on determining the assessment and intervention link, particularly for cognitive ability tests. I am also quite interested in examining the cognitive abilities that contribute to successful reading. In 1998, I co-authored the Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Test (UNIT). In my spare time I enjoy boating, fishing, dancing, and learning about new cultures. I took a Spanish class at the University and during the summer of 2000 I spent three weeks in Peru and Ecuador.
