Schuyler Huck, Ph.D.
Professor
My teaching and research interests are in the areas of applied statistics, research design, and testing. In particular, I love trying to discover instructional strategies that will help students learn more about and have better attitudes toward statistics. I am an active member in AERA’s SIG for Educational Statisticians (and once served as its President), and my favorite professional journal is Teaching Statistics.
Of the books I have written, I am most proud of the 4th edition of Reading Statistics and Research (and its companion website: www.readingstats.com). I am also extremely proud—and humbled—at having been tapped as a Chancellor’s Teaching Scholar; at having been recognized formally as a Distinguished Professor; at having AERA’s National Award for the Outstanding Dissertation go, on two different occasions, to students I advised; and at having been a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy.
On a personal level, I deliver bagged food and serve hot meals
to those in need, and my hobbies include photography, hiking, and
puzzles.
