Thomas W. George, Ph.D.
Professor & Associate Dean
I entered the field of education because of my interest in human behavior. I worked as a Headstart teacher in the Watts area of Los Angeles for two years and I spent four years working as a school psychologist in the California school systems. I currently serve as an Associate Dean for Academic Degree Programs and Administrative Services. In addition, I generally serve on 4-6 doctoral student committees per year.
My research interests include looking at how universities
staff doctoral programs and who is admitted to those programs.
I am also interested in comparing the College (i.e., its programs,
faculty, and students) to its peers.
I am a past president of UT's Phi Delta Kappa Chapter and a current advisor.
I also have numerous publications and presentations in the areas of school
psychology and teacher education. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and
gardening.
