TENNESSEE VALLEY NATURE CLUB

The Tennessee Valley Nature Club (TVNC) is an informal group made up of individuals who are interested in learning more about the natural world – flora, fauna, geology, astronomy, etc. – especially in areas of eastern Tennessee. There are no regular meetings, dues, newsletter etc. (but I will try to maintain club information on my Avian Pursuits Nature Tours website). Field trip announcements are generally made via email, (contact me if you would like to be placed on the list) and also via the Butternut Naturalists Yahoo listserve.

We have done field trips for salamanders, trees, butterflies, dragonflies, wildflowers and viewing the night sky. We will do more of these, plus many other types of trips as we continue to grow – and as we get new members with expertise in various fields. ANYONE may offer to lead a trip, or make suggestions on what we should go out and study. We will even do trips to study things for which we really don’t know much about, as long as we have a field guide that will enable us to learn something!

(because at least initially all members are also members of the Tennessee Ornithological Society, which has many field trips to see birds, the Nature Club is not planning to run trips primarily for the purpose of birding – but we will certainly be keeping our eyes and ears open for birds on all trips!)

The TVNC encourages photography on all its trips (unless otherwise restricted) and we will gladly make time for you to photograph items of interest. We would also like to include pictures on the website, just send them to the email address above. (pictures will be credited to the photographer)
