Beyond Surface
This exhibition features the art of eight East Coast ceramicists. The works on view represent the variety of techniques and concepts found in the ceramics field today. This exhibition celebrates the individuality of each artist, showcasing the imaginative processes behind the construction of three-dimensional clay objects, from form to surface treatment. From the traditionally inspired pottery of UT School of Art alumnus Michael Kline, to the figurative art of Sunkoo Yuh and the political/social commentary of Adelaide Paul, Beyond Surface invites the viewer to participate in an exploration of ideas and imagination. Each of the participating artists has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad. Their personal statements are displayed near the individual work.

Participants include:

  • Lauren Gallaspy, Professional Ceramicist, Athens, GA
  • Michael Kline, Professional Potter, Bakersville, NC
  • Ron Meyers, Professor Emeritus, Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia
  • Andy Nasisse, Professor Emeritus, Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia
