Political Science 596: Computer Applications in Public Admin.
Course description:
Training in software applications to support research and decision making tasks in public service. Successful completion certifies proficiency of MPA students in use of software applications for personal computers. Software: Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Microsoft PowerPoint.
The goals of this course are:
· Develop the following spreadsheet skills: creating a spreadsheet, manipulating a spreadsheet, creating graphs and importing tables/graphs into a word processing document. · Develop the following statistical software skills: creating an SPSS data set, creating graphs, performing bivariate statistical analysis and importing tables/graphs into a word processing document. · To develop the following presentation software skills: creating a slide presentation and importing objects from other software. · List of tasks to be mastered.
