1994 UPA National Championships, Open Masters Division, Spirit of the Game

We certainly can't claim exclusive ownership of this trophy. We teamed up with Primal Scream from Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Open Masters Division in 1994 (in Lexington, Kentucky). Our region was the only region to send two open masters teams to nationals, because our region had the most masters teams competing at regionals. We were the wild-card! We did not win a single game at this tournament. In fact, we were down 0-9 at halftime in 2 different games. We just had too many people (probably around 25) for anyone to get into the flow of the game. At nationals, the other teams in your division vote on who should receive the Spirit of the Game award. Perhaps they voted for us because they felt sorry for us for losing all our games. I think it was because we did, in fact, play with good spirit. As I mentioned on a previous page, this award is not a "booby prize", but a great honor.
