(P247 was previously unassigned due to oversight of the project coordinator, my apology to W247 and Family Group 16).

Three-hundred and seven of our PARKERs have received the results of the Y-chromosome DNA test, shown in the table below. With these 306 DNA tests we have identified 122 different PARKER lines. We are a very diverse group genetically, indicating that our surname was adopted many times by people in different locations. Participation by more PARKER males is needed to help us sort the many PARKER lines into family groups.

Sample #'s are used to present the test results without disclosing the identity of the participants. Marker DYS # is the name of a "locus" or specific position on the Y chromosome, such as DYS #390. The numbers in the table for each participant, such as 13 or 24, identify the gene or "allele" found at that locus. These genes are not known to produce any effect in the body; they are short pieces of DNA that can be identified and used to compare portions of the Y-chromosome from different individuals.

In family groups that have 5 or more test results, the first line in the table is the modal haplotype. This is simply the most frequent value for each marker. The modal haplotype is the most likely DNA profile of the ancestor for that line, and is useful for comparing new DNA results.

Two individuals 'match' when they have the same numbers for all of the DYS markers, as we see for P04, P73, and P100 in Family Group 1. If two people with the surname PARKER match on 24 or 23 of the 25 markers, as we have for P04 and P06, we feel confident they have a common ancestor. A match on 22 of 25 markers decreases our confidence that they share a common ancestor, unless a paper trail can be found, or they share one or more very rare values as occurs in Family Group 13. Matches at 21/25 or less are usually not worth pursuing unless there is other evidence to support a linkage between those two lines.

Y-DNA Haplotypes and Haplogroups

Your Y-DNA haplotype is the set of numbers for each marker, i.e. DYS 393= 13. Your haplotype will never change, though it may grow larger if you order additional tests that extend your results from 25 to 37 or 67 markers.
Your Y-DNA haplogroup is the assignment to one of the clades such as R1a1 or R1b1a2. Haplogroups assign individuals to a group whose founder or "originator" lived many thousands of years ago. Each haplogroup may include thousands or even millions of men, such as R1b1a2. Your haplogroup may change as new information becomes available and the genetic tree of man is revised to include the new information. You can find much information regarding haplogroups on the internet. The World Families web site has information and links to additional sources that can answer many questions regarding DNA and genealogy at: WorldFamilies

The oldest identified ancestor for a Family Group is shown in the header row for that group. The right hand column shows the oldest ancestor for each individual prior to their DNA test. If the sample # has a link, you can click on it to see a descendency chart for that line.

*DYS 19 also known as DYS 394.   Markers 385a&b, 439, 458, 459a&b, 449, and the 464 series are thought to mutate at a faster rate than the other markers. A difference at those markers therefore carries slightly less weight than a difference at one of the other markers.
A 67 marker DNA test is now available, and a few of our participants have ordered that extended DNA test. The below table was added for markers 38 - 67.

PARKER Family Group 1

P04 and P06 match on 24 of 25 markers. They differ by one mutation at DYS 391, their 'genetic distance' is 1.  P04 has James PARKER, b 1815, TN, as his oldest male PARKER. P06 lives in England, and his oldest confirmed PARKER is William PARKER, b 1696, Kirby Hill (Kirby on the Moor), North Yorkshire, England. His ancestors were farmers, and remained in that village until after 1900. He is searching for PARKERs from his line that emigrated to the colonies before 1800.
P20 was added to this family group on 23 Nov 2004 when his DNA results were returned. His oldest ancestor is Henry PARKER who was born in South Carolina about 1827 and married Nancy BLACK in Milam Co. TX in 1850. The common ancestor of P04 and P20 predates their current paper record, but with birth information of 1815 TN for P04, and 1827 SC for P20, they may be only one or two generations from the common ancestor. They had not been in contact prior to the DNA test, so this match gives both of them new leads for their research.
P37 was added to Parker Family Group #1 on 1 Feb 2005, when his DNA test results were complete. His oldest ancestor is Saul PARKER who married Charity JENKINS, and was in Northhampton Co., North Carolina. Researchers for this line have recently been able to add Amos PARKER, born about 1720, probably in Chowan County NC, as the father of Saul PARKER. Amos married Mary FARLEE before 12 January 1750/51.
P17 was added to this group on 4 March 2005. He shares the same ancestors as P20, Henry PARKER, b about 1827 SC, who married Nancy BLACK in Milam Co. TX in 1850.
P31 was added to this group on 12 March 2005. His oldest ancestor is Henry PARKER, b 1780 in South Carolina, the father of the ancestor of P17.
P57 was added to this group on 24 Sep 2005 following receipt of his DNA results. He matches P04 and P31 on 25 of 25 markers. The oldest ancestor of P57 is Samuel PARKER, born 1792 in North Carolina, perhaps Northhamptom County. He married Sally BEECHERDATE or BEECHER DATE (one record has BERCHARD). Samuel PARKER is a younger brother of Lemuel PARKER, an ancestor of P37. Lemuel and Samuel are sons of David PARKER and Elizabeth Andrews HAYS PARKER.
P63 was added to this group on 3 December 2005. He matches P17 on 36 of 37 markers. His oldest ancestor is Perry PARKER, born 1856 in Texas and died 1925 in Dallas County TX. He married Bettie MORRISON in Milam Co. TX in 1878. This line suspected that Henry PARKER was the father of Perry, but could not find proof to support that relationship. The close match to P17 supports the circumstantial evidence that Henry PARKER is the father of Perry PARKER.
P73 was added to this group on 26 February 2006. He matches P04 on 37 of 37 markers.
P102 was added to this group on 24 April 2006. His oldest ancestor is John PARKER, born 1810-20 in North Carolina, and died 1845-46 in Washington Co. Georgia. The name of his wife is unknown.
P119 was added to this group on 7 September 2006. He matches the modal values for Family Group 1 on all 37 markers. His oldest ancestor is Lewis PARKER, born about 1772 in Barnwell District, Orangeburg Co., South Carolina. Lewis died about 1859 in Henry Co. Alabama. He was married twice. The name of his first wife is not known, his second wife was Mary.
P130 was added to this group on 29 September 2006, he has the modal values for this group on all markers tested. His oldest Parker ancestor is John Rhodes (Jack) Parker, born 8 October 1808 in North Carolina, county unknown. He died on 7 October 1884 in Franklin County, Mississippi. He married Elizabeth Carlock on 19 March 1835 in Franklin County, Mississippi. Jack emigrated to Amite County, Mississippi, between 1812 and 1820 with his mother, two brothers, a sister, and some cousin relatives.
P149 was added to this group on 15 May 2007. He differs from the modal haplotype only at DYS 385a. P149 descends from Thomas PARKER, born about 1705, probably in North Carolina. The name of his wife is unknown. His known children were Peter, Silas, Joseph, and William.
P236 was added to this group on 10 April 2009. He descends from Frederick Nance PARKER, b abt 1865 in Illinois, died after 1927 unknown. He married Martha McCURRY in Memphis TN, in 1889. Several of their children were born in Nebraska between 1890-1900. The family was in Spokane Co WA in 1910 and Stevens CoWashington in 1920.
P265 was added to this group on 27 June 2009. He descends from Elisha PARKER, born 1784 in Northampton County, North Carolina. He married Mildred, born 1802.
P302 was added to this group in August 2010. He descends from Lewis PARKER, born 1799 in North Carolina, died 1846 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Lewis married Elizabeth (Betsy) YEARGAN.
P332 was added to this group in November 2011. His oldest confirmed ancestor is Nathan PARKER who was enumerated in the 1860 census of Gibson County, Tennessee along with his wife Hulda.
P343 was added to this group in January 2012.
P04 has had the additional DNA test to determine his haplogroup. His "SNP" test places him in R1a1. By genetic relationship, everyone else in Family Group 1 is also in haplogroup R1a1.

PARKER Family Group 2

P13 and P16 match on 35 of 37 markers. The oldest PARKER ancestor of P13 is John PARKER, b abt 1725 in Ireland. He emmigrated to the U.S. before 1774, when he obtained a land grant in Montgomery Co. VA. He died before 1793. Thomas Bryant PARKER, b 1798 in Grayson Co. VA, d 1850 in Kanesville, Iowa is the oldest PARKER ancestor of P16. Descendents have been searching for the parents of Thomas Bryant PARKER for more than 100 years. Recent evidence had indicated that these two lines could be related, but a solid paper connection could not be established. P13 and P16 had their Y-DNA analysed to determine whether they shared a common ancestor. They are now confident that Thomas Bryant PARKER, b 1798, was a grandson of John PARKER b 1725. P21 and P16 are brothers, and expected to have a high level match.
P24 and P25 were added to this family group on Nov 14,2004 after their DNA analysis was complete. They used a different lab, and there are 27 markers in common between the two labs. They match each other on 40 of 42 markers, and each matches P21 on 41 of 42 markers. They are descended from Joshua PARKER, b 1809 in New York City. Joshua married Druscilla DICKSON (DIXON) HARTLEY, in 1844. The parents of Joshua are thought to be Joshua PARKER and Sarah ROGERS (RODGERS). The Virginia PARKER line of P13 and P16 had no prior connection to the New England area, and we think it is likely that the common ancestor lived in Ireland or England. Additional test subjects are being sought to expand the descendents of this line.
P34 was added to this family group in January 2005, upon completion of his DNA test. He is descended from Moses PARKER, b 1806 in New York City, an older brother of Joshua PARKER, b 1809.
P36 was added to this family group in Jan 2005. His DNA test was done as part of the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy project, and his DNA profile was found by searching for matches in that data base to DNA profiles of one of our participants. He is also descended from the line of Joshua PARKER of New York.
P54 was added to this lineage on 25 July 2005. He has an exact DNA match to P24 and P34.
P56 a descendant of Joseph Faulkner Parker and Mary Elizabeth Ross was added to this lineage on 8 August 2005. He has an exact DNA match to P13, P16, P21 and P54.
P90 matches the modal values for Family 2 on all 37 markers. The oldest ancestor of P90 is Thomas Bryant PARKER, born 1798 in Grayson Co. VA, died 1850 in Kanesville, Iowa.
P132 was added to this group on 11 Oct 2006. He matches P25 on 29 on 30 markers. He is descended from Joshua PARKER born 1778 in Cortlandt, Westchester County, New York, died 27 Sept 1819 in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
P128 was added to this group on 10 November 2006. He matches P13 25 / 25. P128 is descended from John PARKER, born about 1725 in Ireland, died 1792/3 in Grayson County Virginia. John PARKER married Hannah.
P178 was added to this group on 12 March 2008. His oldest ancestor prior to the DNA test was Albert PARKER, b 1891 in Kansas or Colorado, died 1964 in Phoenix, Arizona. The DNA test has allowed genealogist in Family Group 2 to identify P178 as a descendent of John PARKER, born 1725 in Ireland. He has added 175 years to his family history.
P293 was added to this group in May 2011. He also descends from John PARKER born about 1725 in Ireland and died in Grayson County, North Carolina in 1793.
P331 was added to this group in October 2011.
The common ancestor of the lines of John PARKER and Joshua PARKER is still unknown, but the marker DYS 449 appears to be a point of differentiation between these lines.

PARKER Family Group 3
P18 and P26 match on 32 of 32 markers. Their DNA analysis was performed by different labs, and there is a difference in reporting values from different labs. Both have the same three values for the DYS 464 series, 14, 15, 17. One lab reports two copies of 15, the other lab does not attempt to determine whether a value has multiple copies. We are confident these two men share a common ancestor. P18 has John PARKER b 1829 in Georgia, died after 1890 in Coosa Co. Al, and wife Rebecca PODY, as his oldest PARKER ancestors. The oldest ancestor of P26 is William PARKER, born before 1850. He married Minerva Ann Crocker who was born 1851 in Alabama. These lines had not suspected a relationship before the DNA test, and this match has given them new areas and names to include in their search.
P51 was added to this group on 3 August 2005. His oldest ancestor is Thomas PARKER, born about 1768, location unknown. Thomas died in 1851 in Laurens Co. South Carolina. His wife was Frankey, surname unknown.

PARKER Family Group 4
P05 and P38 match on 15 of 16 markers. Their DNA analysis was performed by different labs, and the labs test different groups of markers, resulting in only 16 markers for comparison in this case. Because they share some marker values which are somewhat rare, i.e. DYS393=15 and DYS385a=15, we are confident that they share a common ancestor. The oldest ancestor of P05 is William PARKER, b 1771-75, PA, died abt 1837 ILL (Fulton Co.?), who married Elizabeth DAVIS in 1803 in Ross Co. OH.

PARKER Family Group 5

P01 and P32 match on 35 of 37 markers. The oldest ancestor of P01 is Robert PARKER, b abt 1630 in England, and emigrated to Plymouth Colony MA. Robert PARKER married first Sarah JAMES, and second, Patience COBB. The oldest ancestor of P32 is John PARKER, b 1760-70. The DNA test has made it possible for P32 to determine his relationship to the line of P01.
P41 was added to this group on 25 March 2005. He matches P32 35/37, and P01 34/37.  P41 is descended from Daniel PARKER, son of Elder John PARKER, who was born 1758 in Baltimore Co. Md, and died 1836 in Fort Parker, Texas. This is the line of Cynthia PARKER, mother of Quanah PARKER. This match was unexpected by both PARKER lines, and his given them new areas for research.
P45 was added to this family group on 30 May 2005. He is descended from Benjamin PARKER, son of Elder John PARKER. Benjamin is the brother of Daniel PARKER, ancestor of P41. With matching DNA samples from descendents of two different sons of elder John PARKER, b 1758 Baltimore, MD, we are confident that we have the DNA profile of this line. Anyone with a family oral tradition of descent from Elder John and the line of Cynthia PARKER, can now confirm or disprove that by comparing their DNA to P41 and P45.
P67 was added to this group on 29 October 2005, following receipt of his DNA results. He matches P32 and P45 on 23 of 25 markers. His oldest ancestor is Robert PARKER of Barnstable, Mass. and his second wife, Patience COBB. He had been exchanging information with P01 about their lineage prior to the DNA test.
P72 was added to this group on 13 Dec 2005 following receipt of his DNA test results. He matches the mode for this group on 31 of 32 markers. DNA testing has resulted in a revision of the genealogy of P72 (and many more PARKERs). It now appears that P72 does not descend from John PARKER, 1569 Southhampton, England. His oldest confirmed PARKER is now George PARKER, born 1695-1770, who married Sarah WARRINGTON.

P97 was added to Parker Family group 5 on 17 May 2006. He matches the modal values for this group on 25 of 25 markers. His oldest confirmed ancestor is George PARKER who died in Worcester (now Wicomico) County, Maryland in 1770. He wife was Sarah WARRINGTON. As is the case for P72, P97 also thought that his line of descent was from John PARKER, 1569, Southhampton England, prior to the DNA test. It is now apparent that there were at least two unrelated PARKER lines in the Eastern Shore area in the early 1700's. And of course they used the same given names in both lines, making separation difficult.
P107 was added to this group on 8 July 2006. He matches the modal values for Family Group 5 on all 37 markers tested. The oldest ancestor of P107 is George PARKER born about 1695-1705, place unknown. He died in 1770 in Worcester Co., MD. George married Sarah WARRINGTON after February 1726 in Worcester Co., MD. Sarah was born about 1704 in Cedar Creek Hundred, Sussex County, DE, and died after 1770 in Worcester Co., MD.
P112 was added to Parker Family 5 on 5 August 2006. He matches the modal values for this group on 35 of 37 markers. His oldest ancestor is Samuel Parker, born 1765 in Worcestor County Maryland, died 1840 in Red Level, Alabama. Samuel married Mary "Polly" (last name unknown). Mary died in Red Level, Alabama in 1861.
P111 was added to this grop on 29 October 2006. He matches the modal values for this group on all markers tested.
P144 was added to this group on 6 March 2007. He matches the modal haplotype on all markers compared.
P145 was added to this group on 6 March 2007. He descends from Elisha PARKER, born about 1630 in England.  Elisha married Elizabeth HINCKLEY. He died either in Barnstable MA, or vicinity of Perth Amboy NJ. The connection to Barnstable MA, makes it very likely that Elisha was closely related to Robert PARKER of Barnstable, the ancestor of P01.
P156 received his DNA results on 15 Aug 2007. He matches the modal values for Family Group 5 on 25 of 25 markers. He descends from Sammuel Parker, born 1765 in Worcester County, Maryland, died 1840 in Alabama. Samuel married Mary PARKER, daughter of John PARKER and Sarah GORDY of Sussex County, Delaware. P112 also descends from this Samuel PARKER.
P180 was added to this group on 12 March 2008. He has a known relationship to P145, descending from Elisha PARKER (b 1630 in England) and Elizabeth HINCKLEY.  P145 differed from the modal values for FG5 on 4 of 32 markers, leaving open the question of a shared ancestor. P180 matches the modal values on 2 of those markers, and matches P145 on the other 2, confirming that Elisha PARKER descends from the same ancestor as Robert PARKER of Barnstable, MA (P01).  P180 has a mutation not seen in any other PARKER who has a Y-DNA test. His value of 24 on the marker DYS 389-2 is extremely rare. Most of the Y-DNA data bases do even allow entry of a value that low. Evryone else in FG5 has a value of 30 for that marker.
P189 descends from Thomas PARKER, born 1737 in Freehold, Monmouth, New Jersey, and died in 1832 in Freehold, Monmouth, New Jersey.   He married first Sarah STOUT, and second Amey JAMES.
P222 was added to this group on 19 December 2008. His oldest confirmed ancestor is Richard "Rich" PARKER, born in Virginia about 1785, and died in Allen County (Pleasant Township) Indiana in 1860. Richard PARKER married Sarah WILLIAMS in 1808 in what is now Harrison County, West Virginia.
P238 was added to this group in January 2009. His oldest ancestor is William F. PARKER who married L. BRASFIELD in 1809 in Wilkinson County MS. Their son Julian Franklin PARKER, born before 1812 in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, and died before 1870 in Warren County Mississippi. Me married Malinda DAY in 1837 in Wilkinson Co. MS. She was born in 1812 and died in 1902 in Wilkinson Co. MS.
P242 was added to this group in June 2010. He also descends from Elisha PARKER, born about 1630 in England, died 1717 in Woodbridge New Jersey. His wife was Elizabeth HINCKLEY.
P258 was added to this group on 29 May 2009. His oldest ancestor prior to the DNA test was John PARKER, born about 1830 in Illinois, and died between 1863-1870, perhaps as a result of service in the Civil War. He married Francis 'Fanny' CARTWRIGHT and they were in Washington County, Arkansas in 1860, where some of their children were born.
P261 matches Family Group 5 on 35 of 37 markers. His oldest ancestor is Aaron PARKER, born about 1770, place unknown, died in 1833, probably in Mississippi. The last record of Aaron is in Copiah County MS in 1830. His wife was Tabitha RAYBORN.
P108 was added to this group in 2010. He descends from Asher PARKER, born 1757, possibly in Pennsylvania, died after 1850 in Lewis County, Kentucky. He married Margarette MONTGOMERY.
P346 was added to this group in February 2012. He descends from Robert PARKER, born in England, lived in Barnstable MA, married Patience COBB in 1667. This line is through Thomas Parker born 1669 Barnsnstable MA, married Mary Jenkins in 1693.
P01 has results for detailed haplogroup testing that places him in haplogroup R1b1b2a1a4. By genetic relationship, all of the other PARKERs in Family Group 5 are also in this haplogroup.

PARKER Family Group 6
P10 and P19 match on 37 of 37 markers. The oldest ancestor of P10 is Jonathan PARKER, b abt 1743, d abt 1817, who married Sally HOPKINS.   P19 has Thomas PARKER, b abt 1800 Vermont, as his oldest ancestor. Jonathan PARKER named a son Thomas PARKER, b abt 1777.  It is possible that Thomas PARKER, b abt 1800, is a grandson of Jonathan PARKER, b1743.
P55 was added to this group on 30 July 2005, following receipt of his DNA test results. His DNA test was performed at a different lab, and there are 30 markers in common between his results and P10 and P19. He matches the others in this line on 30 of 30 markers. The oldest ancestor of P55 is Frederick PARKER, born about 1762 in Whitehall, NY. Whitehall was once part of Vermont, so a linkage to the line of P10 will be investigated.
P133 was added to this group on 27 October 2006. He is descended from Thomas PARKER born 1803 perhaps in Connecticutt or England. Thomas died in 1859 in Crawford County, PA. Thomas married Mary BLY in 1827. She was born 1806 and died in 1891 in Crawford Co, PA. Their children were: Andrew Jackson PARKER, Ruth Ann PARKER, Charles Dana PARKER, Nicholas W. PARKER, John Melvin PARKER, Ida A PARKER, and Jasper N PARKER. Thomas had at least one brother. Alexander PARKER who lived in Ohio for a time.

P295 was added to this group in July 2010. He descends from Harry PARKER, whose widow Minerva KENYON PARKER moved her family from Bolton Twp, Warren County New York to St Clair County Michigan in 1832. One of their sons was Henry PARKER, born 1829 in New York, who married Rosanna HAINES. Rosanna was born 1836 in London, England.
P325 has confirmed Edward Alanzo Glysson, born 1841 in Waterbury, Vermont as his oldest paternal line ancestor. Edward married Francis WIGGINS, and died in 1921 in Brookfield, Vermont. As a result of the Y-DNA match to PARKER Family Group 6, descendents of Edward are now looking for an adoption or other cause for a surname change.
P345 was added to this group in February 2012.  His oldest ancestor is John JORDAN, born 1790 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Whether the surname break occurred in the JORDAN or PARKER line has not yet been determined.

PARKER Family Group 7
P11 and P35 match on 24 of 25 markers. The earliest confirmed ancestor of P11 is Benjamin PARKER, born in North Carolina 1770-79; his wife was Nancy ANDERSON, born NC or SC 1770-79. They both died in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana 1841-1850. Though their parents are unknown, Benjamin is thought to be a brother of Jesse Parker P120 and William Parker P183.
P35 is descended from Mills PARKER, born 1762. Genealogists from these two lines had not known of a relationship before the DNA test. They are exchanging data and looking for a link between their families.
P91 matches P35 on 30 of 32 markers. He was added to this group on 24 February 2006, following receipt of his DNA results. His oldest ancestor is Elisha PARKER, born 1785-1787 in Gates Co North Carolina, died 1868-1869 in Hertford Co NC. Elisha married Penelope DILDAY before 1820.

P316 and P317 were added to this group in February 2011. Their paternal line has the GRAYDON surname, but the close Y-DNA match to PARKER Family Group 7 has led them to explore a possible surname change in the early 1800's.
P69 was added to this group in July 2011 following extension of his Y-DNA test from 12 to 37 markers. The 12 marker results were not adequate to differentiate this line from other PARKER lines. P69 descends from John PARKER, born 1787 in North Carolina. He married Fanny EAST in 1808.
P353 was added to this group in March 2012. He descends from Samuel PARKER, born 1795-1800 in North Carolina, died in 1865 in Montgomery County, Arkansas. According to a Goodspeed biography the family moved from NC to Alabama, then to Mississppi before moving to Pike Co AR. Samuel's son J.C. PARKER married Elizabeth CLARK in 1843 in MS, and moved to AR in 1854.

PARKER Family Group 8
The oldest ancestor of P08 is John W. PARKER, born 1860 in Itawamba Co. MS, died 1924 LeFlore Co. Oklahoma. He married Frances Emily HILL. P08 matches P40 on 25 of 25 markers. P40 has William C PARKER, born about 1817 in Alabama, and his wife Evalina TURNER, born 1821 in Franklin Co VA, as his oldest ancestor. These lines are exchanging information to determine whether John PARKER 1860 is a son of William PARKER 1817.
P147 was added to this group on 1 May 2007. He matches P08 and P40 on all markers tested. P147 descends from William PARKER 1817, and his second wife Elizabeth SHIELDS. He had a known relationship to P08 prior to the DNA test.

PARKER Family Group 9

P27 has Thomas PARKER, dob unknown, died in 1812 in Rowan Co. North Carolina, and wife Mary BOSTIN, as his oldest ancestors. The oldest ancestor of P42 is Eli PARKER, b 1799 in NC, died in 1856 in Rhea Co. TN. The wife of Eli PARKER was Prudence JOHNSON, born 1808 in TN, and died in 1888 in Republic, MO.  A relationship was suspected between these lines, but documentation could not be found. The DNA test has confirmed that P27 and P42 share a common ancestor, and they are collaborating to to identify that ancestor.
P74 was added to this group on 9 Jan 2006. He matches P27 and P42 on all 25 markers for which results are available. The oldest ancestor of P74 is Thomas Parker, born about 1796-7, in York, SC, and died 1886, probably in Shelby Co. TX. He married Nancy Richardson, who was born 1810, and died in Shelby Co. TX. These families are exchanging information and searching for a connection between their PARKER lines.

PARKER Family Group 10

P33 and P46 match on 25 of 25 markers. They both have a rare repeat of DYS19, with two values (14 and 15) rather than a single value. Sharing a rare genetic marker is a very valuable asset in determining relationships. The oldest ancestor of P46 is John PARKER, b about 1525 in Great Bursted, Essex England. His great-grandson, James Parker, born 1617 in Great Burstead, immigrated to Woburn, Mass. about 1640. The oldest ancestor of P33 is Samuel PARKER, born 1817 in Lubec, Maine, died 1899 in St. Stephen, NB Canada. Samuel PARKER married first, Jane GRIMMER, and second, Lucy JENKINS. These two lines had not been in contact before their matching DNA results. They are looking for the branching point of the line of Samuel PARKER from that of James PARKER.
P141 was added to this group on 20 March 2007. He is descended from John PARKER born about 1560 in England, married Mary ASHELS (or WHEELER). John is buried at Great Burstead England. P46 and P141 descend from different sons of James PARKER 1617. The ancestor of P46 is Eleazer PARKER, and P141 descends from Eleazer's brother Samuel PARKER.
P163 was added to this group on 4 January, 2008. He matches P141 on 36 of 37 markers. His oldest ancestor is Captain James PARKER, born about 1617 in England. James came to America in 1639 and died in Groton Massachusetts in 1701. He married Elizabeth LONG in 1643 and they had 10 children. P163 descends thru their son Samuel PARKER who married Abigail LAKIN.
P181 was added to this group on 25 April 2008. Prior to the DNA test his oldest known PARKER ancestor was David Richard PARKER, born in Maine in 1819 and died in 1865. David Richard Parker was married to Jane Larrabee CUMMINGS. They lived in Greene Maine.
P188 and P196 were added to this group on 24 June 2008. P188 descends from Captain James PARKER born about 1617 in England, married Elizabeth LONG. James died in Groton MA in 1701.  P196 descends from John PARKER, born 1525, died 1581 in Great Burstead England. He wife was Margaret (last name unknown) who died 1580/81 in Great Burstead. His first ancestor in America was also Capt. James PARKER who married Elizabeth LONG.
P268 was added to this group on 1 August 2009. Although he has only a 12 marker Y-DNA test, the close match and the documentation linking him to this line give us confidence that he also descends from John PARKER, born 1525 in Great Burstead, England.
P274 also descends from John PARKER, b 1525, d 1581 Great Burstead, England.
P330 was added to this group in September 2011. He descends from David PARKER, born 1798 in Massachusetts (probably North Adams), and died in 1853 in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. He married Abigail BURROWS. David and his older brother Oliver, and sister Susan (married George BURROWS) moved to Oakland County Michigan about 1824.
P349 was added to this group in February 2012. His oldest confirmed ancestor prior to the DNA test was Henry Nelson PARKER, born 1816 in Ontario County New York. He married Mary Ann STILWELL in 1834 in Campbell County KY. They later move to Dekalb County Illinois, where they are both buried.
P350 was added to this group in April 2012. He descends from Ruel PARKER, born 1816 in Rutland Vermont, died 1879 in Fayette County, Iowa. His wife was Clarissa WICKER.

PARKER Family Group 11

P07 and P65 match on 23 of 25 markers. The oldest ancestor of P65 is John PARKER who married Rachel SHIPLEY. This family was in Tennessee in the early 1800's then in Northern Alabama, and to Pope Co. Arkansas by 1844. Descendents had known that John and Rachel had 10 children, but the 5 oldest children were unknown for many years. The oldest ancestor of P07 is Isham PARKER, born about 1815 in Alabama. He married Frances (Gouldin?), perhaps as his second wife. Isham has been found in Jefferson Co Alabama in 1850, Lawrence Co. Al in 1860 and Gibson Co. TN in 1870. These families are exploring the hypothesis that Isham PARKER is one of the 5 older children of John PARKER and Rachel SHIPLEY.
The DNA test was extended to 37 markers for both P07 and P65. They now match on 32 of 37 markers, making it less likely that the ancestor of P07, Isham PARKER, was a son of John PARKER, ancestor of P65. These families are looking for a uncle-nephew or more distant relationship between Isham PARKER, b 1815, and John PARKER born abt 1780. They have circumstantial evidence that indicates a linkage based on geography and given names.
P78 was added to this family on 25 February 2006. He is a 24/25 match to both P07 and P65.
P259 was added to this group on 27 June 2009. He descends from John J. PARKER born in either 1816 but probably 1817 in Monroe County, TN. Married Chrisida McMINN in 1845 in McMinn County, TN. John may be a son of Benjamin C. PARKER, born 1779 died late 1830's, who married Cathrine GRAY (born 1783 died after 1850).

PARKER Family Group 12

P70 and P81 have matching DNA on the first 12 markers. Though P81 has only a 12 marker test from the Genographic project, an exchange of data has allowed us to determine that these two men share a common ancestor. The oldest ancestor of P70 is John PARKER, born about 1569 in Southhampton England, who married Marie Gerard. P70's line is through George PARKER, grandson of John PARKER and Marie GERRARD. This George PARKER married Florence CADE. The genealogy of P81 had been stuck on Peter PARKER, born 1783 in Maryland or Kentucky, who married Comfort Cottingham.
P93 matches P70 on 24 of 25 markers, and was added to this group on 19 May 2006. Prior to the DNA test the oldest confirmed ancestor of P93 was John R. PARKER, b 1861 in Missouri and died in St. Louis Mo in 1945. The DNA test supports their hypothesis that the father of John R. PARKER was Edward James PARKER, born 1831 in Worcester Co MD and died 1910-17 in Jefferson Co. MO. The wife of Edward James PARKER was Julia A. McBAIN, 1836-1873. The DNA test links this line to John PARKER born 1569 in Southhampton, England.
P94 matches P70 on 23 of 25 markers, and was added to this group on 13 May 2006. His paper genealogy also connects to John PARKER, born 1569 in Southhampton England, and his wife Marie GERRARD.  P94 is descended from John PARKER and his wife Amy ANDERSON. This John was a grandson of John PARKER/Marie GERRARD, and brother of George PARKER, ancestor of P70.
P99 was added to this group on 25 May 2006. He matches P70 on 24 of 25 markers. Prior to the DNA test, his oldest ancestor was Ayres PARKER, born 1755-65, and died after 1827 in Worcester County, Maryland.   Ayres PARKER was married first to Unice ADKINS, and second to Henrietta WIMBROW. The DNA test has linked P99 to this group of descendents of John PARKER of Southhampton England.
P117 was added to this group on 10 September 2006. He matches P93 on 34 of 37 markers. His paper genealogy links him to the line from John PARKER 1569 of Southhampton, England. His ancestor Joseph Crockett PARKER was born in Accomac, VA in 1800, and married Mary Ann AMBROSE.
P167 was added to this group on 30 August 2007. His father died when he was an infant, and later fires destroyed any family records that may have existed. He only knows that his father Peter PARKER, was born in Mississippi in 1910.

PARKER Family Group 13

P71 is descended from John PARKER, born about 1675 in Northumberland England, and died there in 1748. He married Martha DIXON, born 1698 in Cumberland England, and died in 1767 in Northumberland, England. His line emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the mid-1800's.
P52 is descended from George PARKER, born in 1803 in Mavis Enderby, Lincolnshire, England, immigrated to the USA in 1853 and died in 1895 in Walworth, Wisconsin. He married Sarah FRESHNEY, born in 1801 in South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, England, and died in 1871 in Sugar Creek, Walworth, Wisconsin. The probable parents of this George PARKER were Thomas and Elizabeth Parker of whom little has been found.
This has turned into a very interesting case. P52 originally had only the 12 marker test, and he matched P71 on 11 of 12 markers. The rarity of their DNA profile and the shared surname PARKER gave us confidence that they shared a common ancestor. P52 extended his DNA test to 37 markers, and their match dropped to 29 / 37, a "genetic distance" of 8.  With a genetic difference this great, we would ordinarily conclude that these two men are unrelated within a genealogical time period.  However, the extended DNA test revealed something unusual in this line. Both P52 and P71 have a value of 11 for the marker YCA IIa. This value is very rare. In the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy data base, they report finding this value in only 56 of over 13,000 samples, a frequency of 0.4 %.  P52 and P71 have not been able to find any documentation linking their lines, but we have decided to keep them in a family group. This is based on the shared surname, and their very rare DNA markers. If they do share a common ancestor, a genetic distance of 8 probably means that ancestor lived very near the time when surnames were first adopted.
P103 was added to this lineage on June 29, 2006. He matches P71 on 35 of 37 markers, with a genetic distance of 3. He shares the rare YCA IIa value of 11 with the others in this group. The oldest ancestor of P103 is Robert PARKER, born in 1810 in Tynehead, Alston Parish, Cumberland, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1855, died in 1873 in Glanford Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada. Robert married Hannah CLEMENTSON, born 1814 in Penrith, Cumberland, England, died 1892, Glanford Twp, Canada. This group is working on the hypothesis that Robert PARKER, b 1810, may be a great grandson of John PARKER b abt 1675.
P136 was added to this group on 5 March 2008, following receipt of his 37 marker Y-DNA results. He differs from P71 on 6 markers, however he has the very rare value of 11 for the marker YCA IIa, as do the others in Family Group 13. P136 descendes from Samuel PARKER, who was baptized in 1738 in Medomsley, County Durham, England. Samuel married Mary LAYBOURNE in 1776, and died in Wolsingham Parish, County Durham in 1819. The genetic difference on 6 markers between P71 and P136, means it is likly their common ancestor lived at an earlier date than their current genealogy has reached.
P292 was added to this group in July 2010. He descends from Robert PARKER, born 1804 in Alston, Cumberland England, died in 1873 in East Zorra, Oxford, Ontario Canada. He married Elizabeth Wilson. P292 has the rare value of 11 for marker YCA IIA shared by others in this group.

PARKER Family Group 14
P101 and P14 match on 23 of 25 markers, with a genetic distance of 2. They had not been in contact prior to their DNA test results. The oldest ancestor of P101 is Robert PARKER, born 1780 SC, NC, or VA, who married Winney HANCOCK in 1807 in Wilkes County Georgia. Robert died after 1850, probably in Talbot Co GA. P114 is descended from Joel PARKER, born 1817 in South Carolina, died 1902 in Bainbridge GA. Joel married Elizabeth FRANKLIN.

PARKER Family Group 15
P44 and P122 match on 34 of37 markers. They had not been in contact prior to their DNA test results. The oldest ancestor of P44 is John T. (Taswell or Tazewell) PARKER, born 1865 near Waco, Texas. P122 is descended from William B. PARKER, born 1790-95 in Virginia, and died about 1871 in Garrard County Kentucky. William married Frances Hannah HUDSON who was born in 1820.
P125 was added to this group on 30 March 2005. He matches P122 on 33 of 375 markers. With the addition of 37 marker results for P125, the match to P44 drops to a genetic distance of 7. This difference pushes their common ancestor (if they are related) much furhter back than their current genealogy.
P166 was added to this group on 26 October 2007. He matches P44 on 36 of 37 markers. P166 descends from Noah PARKER, born about 1781 in Tennessee, and died in 1856 in Lawrence County Tennessee. He married his first wife Rhoda PARKER, in 1808 in Sumner County TN. Rhoda (Roda) PARKER was the daughter of Thomas PARKER and Judah(Judith) RENFRO.
P264 was added to this group on 6 August 2009. His oldest ancestor is Wyatt PARKER, born about 1755 in Virginia, and died in 1837 in Madison County, Kentucky. His wife was Nancy Wright, born 1762 in VA and died in 1846 in Mercer County, Kentucky. They were married in 1779 in Virginia.

PARKER Family Group 16

The first results in this group were for P82 and P98. Though they match on 23 of 25 markers, their genetic distance was 4. Without any linking documentation for their lines, we did not place them in a family group. Results for P64 were received on 12 December 2006. He has a genetic distance of 2 from both P82 and P98, serving to "bridge" the gap between them, giving us more confidence in a shared ancestor, and enough information to place them in a family group. P64 descends from Francis PARKER who was born about 1760 in Virginia. Francis married Lucy, and moved from VA to Tennessee before 1800. The oldest ancestor of P82 is John PARKER, born about 1770 in NC. He married Nancy ALDERDICE who was born about 1785. This family later moved to Indiana.  P98 is descended from Jesse PARKER, born about 1766 in North Carolina. Jesse married Ann HORN, and they were found in Wayne Co. North Carolina.
P09 matches P64 on all markers compared. He was added to this group on 10 March 2007. The oldest confirmed ancestor is LeGrand PARKER, born 1813 in North or South Carolina, died in 1853 in Monroe Co AL. LeGrand married Henrietta Beartrice HUDSON in 1839 in Monroe County, Alabama. The parents of LeGrand may be Benjamin PARKER, born 1766 in Virginia, and Emily TISDALE, but that is not yet proven.
P219 was added to this group on 16 November 2008. He matches P64 on 37 of 37 markers. His oldest confirmed ancestor is Charles PARKER.

P351 was added to this group in April 2012. He descends from Eldridge Jackson PARKER, born about 1677 in Devonshire, Devon, England.

PARKER Family Group 17
Family Group 17 was formed on 11 March 2005, following receipt of Y-DNA resutls for P139. He matches P134 match on 66 of 67 markers. P134 descends from Thomas J.     P240 and P244 both have a 46 marker test, but we are only showing the values for markers that are comparable with the 37 marker test. They match on 43 of 46 markers. P240 was initially place in Family Group 6, based on a comparison of only 27 markers. He extended his results to 46 markers, revealing a genetic distance of 6 from the Family Group 6 modal values. Based on his closer DNA match to P244, and a paper record that appears to be a better fit to a relationship to P244, they have formed this new PARKER Family Group 28.

This match has allowed P162 to add two generations to his genealogy, confirming that he descends from Eliphalet Parker, born 1687 in Connecticut and died there in 1758. Eliphalet married Hannah BEACH, who was born 1683/84 and died in 1749. Prior to the DNA test he had confirmed Ichabod PARKER, 1748 -1826 as his oldest PARKER ancestor. P269 descends from John PARKER, born 1648, perhaps in Hartford, Connecticut, and died in Wallingford Connecticut in 1711. John married Hannah BASSETT.
