On May 5th the Fifth Legion attended Rossini Festival in downtown Knoxville. It was our first REAL rain event ever I think. It was the also the first time the leather tent was in the rain. We spent a couple hours before the event joking around inside the tent avoiding the rain. And most importantly the tent KEPT US DRY!! We found a couple leaks, but none actually got anyone sitting them underneath wet. We finally feel confident it could keep us well dry during a good storm.

Just like last year we marched in several parades. We also enslaved Gwencalon (Justin) while he was waiting in line for a hotdog, "because he had not paid his taxes." We then took him down the street and sold him to the highest bidder. Oddly enough, the bidder happened to be wearing a toga and had denarii in his purse (completely unplanned of course). Our encampment was also attended by Patrick Owen of Nova Roma who set up a marketplace of classical goods. Josh Newton and Nick Julian of the UT Classics club put on a Roman trial. The Fifth Legion provided security.
