Computers and technology have been a part of my life from a very early age. It has been fascinating for me to watch the evolution and explosion of the field over the past 25 years. What started out in the academic institutions has now become a part of mainstream society and daily living.
My background in psychology and counseling enables me to gain insight into how people think, feel, and learn, and technology enhances those aspects. It has allowed people to connect and learn in a way that they haven’t before and broadens their experiences. In addition, whereas learning was more teacher-centered in the past, it has become more learner-centered - with people collaborating, learning, and sharing information via technology.
My coursework and experiences in Instructional Technology have enabled me to develop a strong skill set with the major computer applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe programs, and develop an understanding of instructional design. I now can use technology and my knowledge of instructional design to develop instructional manuals on any given topic. My current career goal involves obtain a position where I can teach and mentor instructors and students on how to integrate technology into their learning and curriculum, thereby maximizing their learning to its fullest potential.
