I received my bachelor's degree in psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1997. I also received my master's degree in counseling from the University of Tennessee in May of 2000 and am a Nationally Certified Counselor.

Aside from academics, I enjoy cooking, watching movie musicals, movies, television, and reading. I love to volunteer in the community and support a variety of local, state, and national charitable causes. I'm also a fan of The Big Orange - especially Volunteer basketball and Lady Vol basketball. Go Vols and Lady Vols! I have an eclectic taste in music. I like all genres except for heavy metal. Currently, I'm into jazz, classical, and country. On television, I enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Brothers and Sisters, House, Num3ers, Grey's Anatomy, and pretty much everything on PBS. I'm also an avid reader who enjoys reading biographies, autobiographies, anything by David McCullough, science fiction, historical fiction, and Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand.
