In 1995, I graduated from UT with a major in English and a minor in Cinema Studies, with a focus on feminist criticism in both fields. This was followed by two Masters degrees at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign: one in English (with an emphasis on Early Modern Studies and Cinema Studies), and the other in Library and Information Science. I worked for several years as a Humanities librarian at the University of California, Davis, with subject responsibility for Film Studies, among several other disciplines. Since 2007, I have been employed at the UCLA Arts Library as the Film, Television, and Theater Librarian, and now additionally as Librarian for Women’s Studies and LGBT Studies.
My coursework in Cinema Studies at UT was essential to grounding my understanding of both history and theory in the field, and to informing how I assist other researchers today. It was also one of the most intellectually supportive programs I encountered as a student.
