Professional Licensure Programs
The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences is responsible for the coordination of teacher licensure programs for the University. Licensure programs are available in art education, early childhood education, elementary education, middle school education, secondary education, and special education. Students pursuing initial licensure programs complete their undergraduate degrees and graduate-level internships. Upon completion of the internship year, students may apply the graduate hours earned toward a master's degree with majors in teacher education. The College also offers graduate programs for teachers pursuing careers as school administrators, as well as advanced degrees for experienced teachers. The Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling offers graduate programs in school counseling and school psychology. All of our professional licensure programs are approved by the Tennessee State Department of Education and are nationally accredited by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education).
