To Parents of
Kemba Smith, Lisa Gallimore
And my daughter
Reading Kemba's story
My eyes erupt into waterfalls
Weeping with we parents
Married or divorced
Frozen in our love for daughter
Still cannot prevent the water,
We become null and void
Despite our shelter and tender care
All because,
We can't be every where.
And if we were
What would/could we say?
Afterall,
Daughters too
Must become
Adults some day.
But yet,
Daughters carry the future
We can't be caviler
We must state our position
Clarioning it far and near.
Ira E. Harrison
