Dr. Ilsa Schwarz participates in research in the areas of
language development and evidence-based practice with specific interests
in language disorders and stuttering. Prior to becoming Head of Department
at UT in 2002, she was the Foundation Professor in Speech and Language
Therapy and Director of Health Studies at the University of Canterbury in
New Zealand. Dr. Schwarz has published research articles in journals that
include: American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology, Journal of Speech
and Hearing Research, Topics in Language Disorders, Journal of
Communication Disorders, Language Speech-Hearing Services in the Schools,
the New Zealand Speech Therapy Journal, Advances, Journal of Speech
Pathology Australia, and the Journal of Fluency Disorders. She was also
the Editor of the New Zealand Speech and Language Therapy Journal from
1998-2001 and has served as a member of editorial boards for numerous
journals.
