Welcome...
Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 140,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is America's oldest national engineering society. The University of Tennessee's student chapter of ASCE was established April 17, 1923. Our overall purpose is to encourage members to study the technical and ethical bounds of civil engineering, and to provide students with professional skills to become active members of society.

UTK ASCE Receives an Award...
April 9, 2012
I would like to say a big thank you to all students, faculty, and staff who have made ASCE what it is today. Tonight [April 9, 2012] our chapter was awarded the Charles R. Burchett Citation for Extraordinary Contributions to Campus Life at the Chancellor's Honors Banquet. This is a tremendous honor, of which we would not have received without Dr. Cox's very kind nomination. Students, give yourselves a big pat on the back because this society is nothing without its members. Thank you all!

4th Place Overall Conference
Though we did not repeat our 1st Place Overall Conference from last year, we should all be proud of our efforts! It is not an easy task to place in the top 5, and taking home 4th place is very commendable. We are part of the largest ASCE Conference in the nation, with 25 schools in attendance including Auburn University, Florida Institute of Technology, University of Florida, University of Alabama, Vanderbilt University, and more. I have attached a picture of the trophy, weighing in at a solid 3 pounds!
I hope everyone had a great time in Tallahassee, and I hope that preparing for and competing in this Conference was a great learning experience for everyone. We may not have brought home a trophy in every category, but we all have something to take away from this: knowledge and fond memories. So thank you to every single person who helped make this conference a success: faculty, students, and sponsors. I will be uploading photos I took to our Facebook page throughout the week, so please look for photos there.
Next year, the conference is being joint hosted by the University of Miami and Florida International University and will be held in Miami, FL. Please let next year's Conference Chairs, Jonathan Vest and Gabrielle Sobel, know if you are interested in being a captain for a certain type of event next year.
Thank you,
Amanda Cruzen
