Asian Studies Curriculum

The Major:

Prerequisites:

  1. Asian Studies 101 (Asian Civilization-India and Islamic World)
  2. Asian Studies 102 (Asian Civilization-China and Japan)

Corequisite:
Competence (the successful completion of the 200-level sequence of that language or demonstration of equivalent mastery) in a major Asian language of the chosen geographical-cultural area.

Requirements:
The major concentration consists of 26 credit hours of upper division courses from Asian Studies and approved departmental offerings.

  1. Twelve of the hours from courses listed within one of the following four geographical-cultural areas: Islamic World, China, South Asia, and Japan.
  2. Six of the 26 hours from courses listed for other geographic-cultural areas.

The Minor:

Prerequisites:

  1. Asian Studies 101 (Asian Civilization-India and Islamic World)
  2. Asian Studies 102 (Asian Civilization-China and Japan)

Requirements:
The minor consists of 15 credit hours at the 200-level and above.

  1. Twelve credit hours from courses within one of the four geographic-cultural areas
  2. Three hours from courses in another geographic-cultural area
