Welcome to the University of Tennessee School of Art!

The University of Tennessee is classified as a Doctoral/Research Extensive institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Our students are taught by internationally known faculty who conduct a high level of research and creativity activity. Detailed information on our research projects is listed in the Research section on this site.

In 2008, U.S. News and World Report surveyed over 200 graduate fine arts programs in the U.S. and recognized the School of Art’s Printmaking program as 4th in the nation. Our graduate program as a whole was ranked among the top 25% of graduate schools in the country, placing us alongside such programs as Cornell University, Syracuse University, University of Minnesota and the University of New Mexico.

The School of Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). We offer programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (majors in Art History and Studio Art); the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art; and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Our graduate program offers a three year Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics , drawing , graphic design, media arts, painting, printmaking and sculpture.
