Former Interior Design Program Coordinator Josette Rabun Retires

Dr. Josette Rabun, former interior design program coordinator, retired on July 31, 2009. Professor Rabun joined the Interior Design faculty in 1982 and became program coordinator in 1992, leading the program to national recognition. She is a Fellow in the Interior Design Education Council (IDEC). She will be recognized with Professor Emeritus status through the Office of the Chancellor.

"Josette was an invaluable member of our college family," said Dean John McRae. "She has made significant contributions not only to our programs but to the interior design profession. We will miss her but wish her all the best in her retirement."

In 2008, Dr. Rabun, alongside her husband, has been recognized by UT's Ready for the World program for her role in developing the college's Poland Exchange Program. She also received a certificate of appreciation from the Interior Designer Educators' Council for her contribution as a reviewer for the Journal of Interior Design. She also was honored by the American Society of Interior Designers, Tennessee chapter, with a presidential citation for service to the society and the profession.

"Josette was an exceptional leader of the interior design program," said Barbara Klinkhammer, interim head of the program. "Her work and efforts to make this a top-notch interior design program have not gone unnoticed. The college was fortunate to have such an experienced and recognized designer like Josette as part of the leadership team. We will miss her."

The College of Architecture and Design thanks Dr. Rabun for her contributions to the college and to the Interior Design Program.
