For this project, I am investigating whether genetic knowledge (as evidence of ancestry) has the potential to change an individual’s personal sense of identity, or social/group identity? As part of this project, I am also interested in how people may regard science (genetic knowledge) as more “truthful” than other types of (cultural/social) knowledge?
This project is in collaboration with Marcela Mendoza, a cultural anthropologist at the University of Oregon.
