As of
November 12, 1999, TASC has delivered a letter to President Gilley
recommending a course of action for the University of Tennessee that would
make our school stand as a beacon for human rights labor issues. TASC
presented President Gilley with our letter as well as the Tasc supported
Code of Conduct called the Worker's Rights
Consortium. This Code of Conduct will be a contract which would
be
applied to any licensee wishing to produce University of Tennessee
apparel.
TASC
member, Chris Bottoms, signs the letter advising President Gilley of a
proper course of action for the University of Tennessee in the campaign
against UT apparel produced through the exploitation of labors rights.
Chris' letter, along with over one hundred and fifty supporting signatures
and twenty other individually signed letters, was hand delivered to
President Gilley's office.
