Today's Style of Dancing: Differnt Types of Dance Moves
Enough about the history and styles of dances, and let's discuss the moves you can do. Obviously,
there are certain dance moves that range from very easy to very difficult. I will try to go from one of the easiest move, to
one of the hardest ( not to me but from others ) dance moves. I am going to give you a treat by going through some of the moves
step by step to better help understand. For a visual I will do movements in different pictures for additional help.I will only go
through a couple which include:
- A-Town Stomp
- Moonwalk
- Heel Toe
A-Town Stomp ( Originated in Atlanta - Featured in the Usher Video "Yeah"
- Step 1: Start feet shoulder width apart
- Step 2: Turn 60 degrees ( right or left ) and bend your outside knee( if you turn
right use your right leg) and kick it out twice ( quickly)
- Step 3: ( After the second kick is done, jump back and stomp facing foward ( how you
started but feet together stomping) As shown in Picture 4.
- Step 4: Now do the opposite with starting with step 2, and continue alternating legs
until you are tired and worn out. :)

Moonwalk ( Going Back Old School )
- Step 1: StartFeet side by side, keep left foot flat, and lift your right heel putting
your weight on your right toes ( make sure to bend your right knee ).
- Step 2: Keep your left foot flat and slide it back ( keeping your left leg
straight).
- Step 3: ( When your left foot is far back as you want it ) All at once do the
following:
Put your right heel down by straighting your right leg, and bring your left heel up, bend your
knee placing your weight on your left toe
- Step 4: ( You are now back to where we started with the opposite foot ) Do the same
step 1 - 3 for the other foot and repeat over and over.

Heel Toe
- Step 1: Feet shoulder width apart, cross left foot over right( with left heel down, and left toe pointed up -- and right
toe down and right heel up)
- Step 2: Now slide your right foot back/out ( like you are about to fall and you catch yourself )( While keeping your
left pointed up and your right down ) turn your left foot out and your right foot in.
- Step 3: This is the tricky part.....Jump and cross your right foot over your left facing foward ( with your right heel
down and right foot pointed up -- and left toe down and left heel up ).
- Step 4: As before ( but with the opposite foot), slide your left foot back/out ( like you are about to fall and you
catch yourself )( While keeping your right pointed up and your left down ) turn your right foot out and your left foot in.
- Step 5: Now repeat steps 3 and 4 until you are satisfied with your move. ( This move will probably take you a little
longer to catch on to.)
