Activities
CAAS is a research-oriented organization meant to generate the highest standard of scholarship concerning the contemporary arts. We will strive to create and support activities such as the following:

Reading programs for CAAS membership of primary and secondary research concerning the contemporary arts;

Sponsorship and support of contemporary-arts-related lectures, symposia, and research workshops at the University of Tennessee;
- Cooperation and shared activities with local, national, and international societies and programs concerning contemporary arts studies;
- Creation of synergies for classroom teaching and new interdepartmental venues for collaborative graduate research between students working primarily in the contemporary arts;
- Creation of new publishing venues for refereed research concerning the contemporary arts;
- New venues promoting and disseminating UT faculty research.
We have created a reading program for our monthly meetings, and each year we set an annual mission statement by majority vote and dovetail the goals of that mission with various activities at the local and national level.
