Department Overview: The Department of Advertising is an internationally recognized program for excellence in advertising education and research. The Undergraduate program is consistently rated among the "Top 10" in the nation. U.S. News and World Report recently named the graduate program as the 8th best in the country, and a 1998 study rated the University of Tennessee faculty as the third most productive in advertising research among more than 250 universities nationwide. Compared to many other programs, the one at the University of Tennessee is fairly small. We accept and graduate about 60 undergraduates each year. We accept and graduate about 10 master's students each year and only two to three doctoral students. There are seven full-time faculty members in the department.The Department of Advertising has been designated by the University of Tennessee as a "program of excellence." The Department's teaching and research records have assured the program's viability and vitality into the 21st Century.
