The Purpose

 

In order to better understand the phenomenon of computer anxiety, the purpose of this research will be to examine the significance of those variables which may affect the successful interaction between computer user and computer. Specific objectives will be to consider (a) the influence of gender on computer performance anxiety, (b) the relationship of age to CA, (c) math anxiety and its possible connection to CA, (d) prior computer experience or (e) typing/keyboard experience and (f) the effect of attitude on computer performance. In addition to these specific objectives, this research will look at strategies used to lessen or prevent CA in the areas of (a) teaching/learning methods, (b) computer equipment/management issues, and (c) help/technical support. In looking at the interaction between computer and computer user one should notice that the variables themselves may interact with other variables to produce varying degrees of performance anxiety in the computer user.
