Welcome to the Department of History

We are a welcoming place for undergraduate and graduate students seeking a world-class education in the humanities in general, and in history in particular.

Last year our professors earned three college and university outstanding teacher awards, a university outstanding research award, and two national best book prizes. Six of our professors have won prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships in the last four years.

Finally, our public service lectures place us in front of civic organizations across the state, and allow us to share our passion for the study of history.
