Application and Admissions

You may begin the admissions process by consulting the UTK Online Graduate Catalog. This online document contains a wealth of information, including admission requirements, registration and enrollment requirements, financial assistance information, student services, and much more.

The UTK Graduate School has the following online application resources and materials:

* Complete the orange "Graduate Application for Admission" form which may be found inside the front cover of the Graduate Catalog or in the admission packet.

College Arts & Sciences Major (show either Speech Pathology or Audiology)

* Send this form along with $35.00 application fee to the Graduate School. For further information about admissions to the Graduate School, see the UTK Home Page.

* Make arrangements to take the general aptitude section of the Graduate Record Examination and to have the results of the test sent to the Graduate School. (Note: Most schools offer this test only once each quarter or semester. Several weeks usually elapse before the test results are mailed out so take the exam as early as possible.)

* Make arrangements to have a transcript of all of your previous college work sent to the Graduate School.

* Write and send a Letter of Intent / Personal Statement to the Department. This is a one-page letter stating your purposes in applying to graduate school, any special areas of academic interest you have, and what career uses you plan for your graduate education.

* Students who have previous practicum experience will need to submit a signed record of all ASHA approved hours when entering the program.

* Arrange to have two recommendations (rating forms - PDF format) from instructors in your major sent to:

Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology
578 S. Stadium Hall
Knoxville, TN 37996-0740

One recommendation form is enclosed in the catalog. Please make photocopies for others needed. (You must submit at least two recommendations from academic references. Additional personal references may be submitted but are not necessary.)
