Robert Hood Brannan and his son operated a tailor shop, R. H. Brannan and Son, on the second floor of the Sedgwick Building at 504 Market Street at the corner of Union Avenue. It is probably the elder Brannan to whom McCarthy refers since he mentions “the old tailor.” The elder Brannan was born on January 1, 1880, and he died on November 26, 1961, and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
