Wes Morgan
Bobby Jack Davis was one of twelve children. Bobby (Flat Nose) was known around Comer’s as a very good pool player. One of his sisters, Bess, ran a brothel on McCalla Avenue in Knoxville for many years. On May 28, 1956, Bobby Davis, a 27-year-old unemployed married man, was killed with a 16-guage shotgun in Happy Hollow, a very rough section along North Central. He was shot in the chest in what police termed a “gangland type” murder on the lawn of the Emerald Avenue Methodist Church in a drive-by shooting by his friend and drinking companion, (William) Earl Turner, after a weekend of heavy drinking. Bobby is buried in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
