Special Operations
Special Operations is responsible for various support functions in the University of Tennessee Police Department. Captain Keith Lambert is the supervisor for the Special Operations Section. This section includes the Community Relations Unit (CRU), Training Section, Police Communications, Central Alarm monitoring, and Community Service Officers. These operational sections contribute support and training to assist the department’s overall police function. Please see related links for more specific information about each section.
Captain Lambert is the primary Public Information Officer for the University of Tennessee Police Department. He is responsible for responding to media inquiries, coordinating press conferences and public events, assisting field personnel with local media relations, and serving as a liaison on public relations matters with other University departments. Captain Lambert strives to educate the public, promote the department’s motto of “Enforcement Through Cooperation”, and improve public relations by producing and disseminating accurate information through field programs, media contacts, and daily crime logs.
The information disseminated by the Public Information Officer is in accordance with Departmental Policies and Procedures and state/federal laws. Information pertaining to ongoing investigation or investigations where the UT Police Department is not the primary investigating agency will not be released. Copies of the daily media log are made available to media outlets Monday-Friday during regular business hours.
