The Tennessee Recreational Center for Students (TRECS) is the
home for the RecSports Department at the University of Tennessee. Opened in
August of 2003, the TRECS is available to serve the recreational needs of
the UT student body and is open seven days a week from early morning to late
night, so get involved!! All RecSports programs and services are available
with a valid UT student ID. Check the website for updated facility hours at

near other RecSports facilities which include the Student Aquatic Center,
the RecSports Turf Field, the Bubble, and the HPER Building.

has to offer. With the latest equipment and programming there's no need to
leave campus to be physically active or socially involved; let RecSports help
you start developing the healthy habits and friendships you will carry on
for the rest of your life. Some of the opportunities/programs offered by RecSports
include:
Aquatics: Open Rec swim in either the indoor or outdoor Olympic
sized pools, swim classes and scuba classes.
Fitness: Train on your own on one of over 100 pieces of strength equipment
and over 80 pieces of cardiovascular equipment from leading manufacturers
in the spacious workout area. You can also try out group exercise classes
that include but are not limited to: yoga, Pilates, kick boxing, indoor cycling,
and abs.
Intramurals: Looking for a little competition among friends?
Be a part of a popular tradition by being involved in intramurals. Check out
the various Intramural activities for teams or individuals in: basketball,
golf, flag football, indoor and outdoor soccer, tennis, volleyball, wallyball
and many more. Sign up with your friends or become a free agent by signing
up to be added to a team if you don't have one. Intramurals is for everyone
no matter your skill level.
Informal Recreation: Hectic schedule? Then, Informal Recreation
is for you. RecSports has open hours in all facilities for working out, playing
basketball or hanging out with friends. Special one day events in cooperation
with Intramurals and Fitness allow you to take part in RecSports activities
and assist you in developing those healthy, life long habits.
Outdoor Recreation: Discover the natural beauty that surrounds
UT in the Great Smoky Mountains, East Tennessee, and bordering states. Never
participated in any outdoor activity? Not a problem, sign up for one of the
weekend trips or semester break trips to introduce you to the adventures available.
Outdoor Rec also provides the opportunity to rent equipment for any of your
outdoor activities like kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, backpacking
and much more. Finally, be sure to check out the climbing and bouldering wall
located in the HPER building.
Sport Clubs: Join one of the 25 student initiated and run Sport
Clubs that offer you a chance to participate in competitive, recreational,
and instructional aspects of a sport. Being a member of a Sport Club gives
the individual an opportunity to enhance and develop leadership skills along
with being a part of a team. No previous experience is needed to join a particular
