[The following resolution was adopted by the UTK Faculty Senate on September 20, 1999.]

Whereas the various proposals for four-lane connector for automobile traffic between the agriculture campus and the main campus would (A) increase automobile traffic on both campuses, reducing the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians, (B) make pedestrian movement on the agricultural campus in particular more difficult and dangerous, and (C) generally reduce the environmental quality of both campuses, the UTK faculty Senate recommends to the University President, the Board of Trustees, the Governor and the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Transportation:
1 That the current plans for a four-lane automotive connector be abandoned,

2 That instead a connector with access only for pedestrians, bicyclists, trolleys and/or emergency vehicles be planned and built.
