Bachelor's DegreeCurriculumCourse DescriptionsField Placement

Practica and Internships

All students are encouraged to inquire about the policies and procedures that relate to the field placement process. You should see the internship coordinator early on in your academic studies. Once you have been granted entry into the Recreation and Leisure Studies Program you should also request assignment to the “Recreation and Leisure Studies Organizational Site” located on Blackboard. This site will be used to disseminate many of the forms used in the field placement process.

Practica and Internships are opportunities for students to explore the field of Recreation and Leisure services before entering into it as professionals. Through these experiential placements, students begin to build the requisite skills they will need to compete in the professional field and obtain knowledge that they will be able to apply towards future career goals. Students will construct a “key work search” resume, cover letter prior to starting their field placement search of sites that are located regionally, nationally and internationally. The field placement site is selected based on the student’s interests, needs, and career aspirations as well as the compatibility with the requested site.
