Dr. Damon Andrew
Dr. Damon Andrew teaches the graduate Research Techniques in Sport class. He holds numerous academic degrees including an A.A. from Jefferson Davis Community College, a B.S. in Physical Education/Exercise Science and M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of South Alabama, a M.S.E.S.S. in Biomechanics and a M.E.S.S. in Sport Management from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. in Sport Administration from Florida State University.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Andrew taught at the University of Louisville for two years, where he served as coordinator of their doctoral program in Sport Administration. His research interests include organizational behavior, organizational theory, and human resource management in sport.
Specifically, Dr. Andrew’s research can be classified into three areas: 1) Research involving leadership in sport, 2) Research investigating the attraction of sport to participants, spectators, sponsors, employees, and stakeholders, and 3) Research exploring the effective integration of individuals with disabilities into the sporting environment. He has received numerous grants to support his research, and his work has been published in outlets such as the International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing, Sport Marketing Quarterly, International Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of Coaching Science, Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport, Journal of Contemporary Athletics, Journal of Physical Education Recreation & Dance, The Physical Educator, Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport, and the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation.
Dr. Andrew is an active member of several organizations including the North American Society for Sport Management, Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand, Sport Marketing Association, Sport and Recreation Law Association, American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology, North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, and MENSA.
