A Declaration of Minor form must be filled out and signed by the student and the Gerontology Coordinator.
The undergraduate minor in Gerontology consists of 12 credit hours, as follows:
Coursework – 9 hours from the following:
CFS 312 – Family in Late/Middle Adulthood (3)
Exercise Science 370 – Aging and Physical Activity (3)
Health 406 – Death, Dying & Bereavement (3)
Health 465 – Aging and Health (3)
Nursing 400 – Aging & Society (3) (open to all students)
SOC 415 – Sociology of Aging (3) (offered only through distance education as a correspondence course)
Other courses as approved by the coordinator of the minor (representative for the Gerontology Colloquy).
Applied Practicum – 3 hours of approved practicum taken in the “home” department
OR
Nursing 402 (Practicum in Gerontology - open to all students with permission of instructor)
OR
Nursing 461 (Practicum in Gerontology - for Nursing students only)
