Homework

1. Work problems 2.1 and 2.2 from the text.
2. Find the total cross section for an isotope in an energy group that spans 1 to 2 eV.  Assume the flux spectrum is 1/E and the total cross section can be represented as the function sigt(E) = 0.4 E  (E in eV) over the energy group.
3. Find the isotropic elastic scatter cross section for Carbon-12 (A=12) from an energy group that spans from 0.6 to 0.7 keV to a group that spans 0.4 keV to 0.5 keV.  Assume the flux spectrum is 1/E and that the scattering cross section is a constant 5 barns.
