University Housing Staff - Director of Housing Services

Position Description

Purpose

To administer and direct the Facilities Services Division of the University Of Tennessee Department of University Housing.

Responsibilities

Direct the maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, and office operations to ensure safe, secure, and habitable facilities.

Principle Duties

  • Develops, implements, and monitors the Facilities Services budget
  • Administer all housekeeping activities for the Department of University Housing facilities
  • Direct the recruitment of Facilities Services supervisory personnel
  • Coordinate performance appraisals of all Facilities Services supervisory personnel
  • Develop and coordinate long range capital improvement and major renovation programs
  • Confer and coordinate with Physical Plant on special maintenance and renovation projects, and administer shop activities in all housing facilities
  • Administers departmental work order systems and activities; develops and implements cost saving measures
  • Develop and implement interior design projects for renovations
  • Develops and implements Facilities Services procedures and job descriptions for each position
  • Confers and works with the Office of Human Resources to ensure compliance with University policies
  • Administers all Facilities Services purchasing activities; monitors invoices and accounts payable
  • Confers and works with the Facilities Planning Office in the development and implementation of capital improvement projects
  • Develops and administers facility safety programs designed to increase security in and around all housing facilities
  • Confers and works with Residence Life staff to determine effectiveness of Facilities Services
  • Administers Facilities Services safety training programs
  • Develops and administers Facilities Services preventative maintenance programs
  • Develops, implements and directs general and fire safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant codes
  • Investigates complaints from residents, parents, and administrators relating to Facilities Services; takes corrective action; promotes good public relations
  • Prepares Facilities Services budget and project reports for the Executive Director
  • Acts as Chief Housing Officer in the absence of the Executive Director
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
