Purpose
This position is a central staff level position in the Department
of University Housing. The position has responsibility for
coordinating, supervising and monitoring all financial and business
activities of the department. This position reports directly to the
Executive Director of University Housing.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the preparation of the department's budget,
to include thirteen on-campus residence halls, seven off-campus housing
complexes, one central administrative account, and several miscellaneous
housing accounts.
- Direct and coordinate the department's financial accounting system
and preparation of monthly financial statements. Must understand the
university's formal accounting system, and be able to direct and review
reconciliation of the two systems.
- Supervise and direct the accounts receivable function of the department.
Review and revise the department's procedures regarding billing and collection.
- Supervise and direct the accounts receivable function of the department.
Review and revise the department's procedures regarding bulling and collection.
- Direct and coordinate the purchasing function for the department, to
include the review of requisitions and purchases orders.
- Supervise and direct the payroll function of the department. Review and
approve payroll and personnel procedures and documents to insure compliance
with university policies.
- Provide guidance and direct activities of three Accounting Clerks in the
preparation of monthly financial statements, to include budget comparisons
and analysis.
- Provide guidance and direct activities of two Senior Payroll Clerks in all
payroll and personnel activities for the department.
- Provide guidance and direct activities of two Senior Bookkeepers in the
operation of the department's billing and collection office.
- Supervise and direct the activities of one Senior Bookkeeper in a variety of
bookkeeping activities, including compilation of financial data on summer conferences.
- Provide training for department staff members in areas related to the financial
functions of the department.
- Provide training for department staff members in areas related to the preparation
and processing of payroll and personnel documents.
