In Your Residence Hall

  • Floor Activities
    Rewards of Getting Involved

You’ll meet new people and make new friends

You’ll enjoy the feeling of working closely with fellow students towards the achievement of common goals

You’ll develop leadership and interpersonal goals

You can make yourself a more marketable candidate for employment after college; and

    YOU’LL HAVE MORE FUN!

Ask your RA about ways you can get inVOLved in planning activities for the residents in your community.

  • Residence Hall Associations
  • The hall association is the student government for your residence hall. These student-run organizations are very active in planning new programs and carrying on the traditions established in the past. Hall association executive officers are elected during the spring semester while floor representatives are selected shortly after opening during the fall semester. At the beginning of each year, residents may join their association for a minimal fee which is used in planning programs throughout the year. Becoming a member gives you access to a variety of special equipment and facilities and allows you to get inVOLved!

  • The United Residence Halls Council

The United Residence Halls Council (URHC) is the governmental body for all residence hall students. URHC represents all residents to the Department of University Housing and to SGA. Membership in the URHC is open to all students living in the residence halls at the University of Tennessee.
This organization serves as both a sponsor of campus events and a source of funding for events sponsored by the hall associations. Annual events sponsored by URHC include Welcome Week activities, carpet sales, loft rentals during opening week and exam care baskets during finals week. URHC is also involved in various community service based programs including United Way.
