Premal Shah
Ph.D Student, Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Tennessee

I am currently working with Dr. Michael Gilchrist on building and using models of translation to understand the impact of selection and drift on the evolution of DNA sequences. I am also working with Dr. Sergey Gavrilets on a neutral model of cultural evolution to understand how ideas spread, compete and then eventually become memories of the past generation (i.e., die off).

In general my interests span about 10 orders of spatial scales - from the sub-celluar to the population and ecosystem level - 15 orders of temporal scales - nanosecond molecular dynamics to the evolutionary dynamics lasting millions of years.
