Intro
What is a union?
What is a living wage?
UT needs a workers' bill of rights.

For years, PSA members have worked for fair working conditions for UT employees. Together with the United Campus Workers - Communications Workers of America Local 3865 (UT's staff union), we have participated in some major victories, including winning unjustly fired staff their jobs back, a bonus raise for the lowest-paid UT workers, better overtime rules in Housing, Hepatitis B vaccinations for plumbers and custodians, a transfer period for van drivers, securing back pay for furloughed employees, preventing the implementation of a Christmas holiday furlough, and generally making the issues of wages and respect widely discussed on campus and across Tennessee.

The 2005-2006 Academic year will be no exception. Following UCW-CWA's lead, members in PSA will work toward three main workplace goals:

Activism can and should be an integral part of the college experience. This year, please join PSA in making UT a better workplace and better university.

April 2001: One in a series of rallies and marches in 2000-2001 jointly organized by the United Campus Workers and the Progressive Student Alliance. Actions like these put the issues of wages and working conditions at UT squarely in the public discourse. There is no going back!
