Southern Utah is a remote place and derives its beauty from that isolation. It still contains the largest single area of unimproved land in the continental United States- with no paved roads, electricity, or water. On the outskirts of this area are several developed National Parks- each with their own unique grandeur. Though an ecologically and politically complex place, the canyon country of Utah- with its rocks of endless variety and form- offers the tourist an original opportunity for recreation and contemplation. As a tourist, I have discovered that there are many ways to approach a place- mentally and physically- and in this website I use a journey to Southern Utah as a device for illustrating that point. |
